The Internet has become one of the world’s biggest driving forces, and has often been compared to the Industrial revolution as a force behind communication and progress. Nearly everyone in the western world now has access to the Internet, and through it they shop, check their bank balance, email
, and read the news.

Despite all these wondrous applications of the internet, there is unfortunately a criminal element that will take advantage of the less tech savvy people on the internet, stealing their bank details and personal information for their own financial gain. This kind of behavior is unfortunately common, and has been a blight on the world since the early days of the first virus.

To protect yourself from the hazards of today’s Internet, it is essential that you buy internet protection. You will also need to perform regular internet cleanup to remove trace details about your personal life, including things which could be used for identity fraud. This includes your name, address and date of birth, not to mention your bank details, which could be used to make unauthorized purchases on the Internet directly.

Fortunately, in the world’s two most popular web browsers there are some simple tools to clear your browsing history, internet cache and the cookies which store your personal and financial information. If you have some internet security software, you might even be able to set it to automatically delete your cookies and internet browsing data after every session!

In Internet Explorer Internet cleanup takes seconds. Simply go to Tools then Internet Options from the top bar, and a box will come up with several options. Under ‘Browsing History’ you will see a button called delete, if you press this you will be able to Delete your history, cookies, form data, and passwords, separately, or with a single click on the ‘Delete All’ button.

Also under the browsing history you can change the settings, this allows you to view your temporary internet files, as well as set the maximum number of days that websites should be stored in your browser’s history. They will automatically be deleted after this time!

Internet clean up in Firefox is just as simple, if not simpler. The secure Firefox browser allows you to clear your browser history, Cache and search history with a couple of simple clicks.

On the top bar, click Tools, and then ‘Clear Browsing History’. This will open up a new box, with a time range. Clearing everything is safest, however, if you want to keep your browser history for longer, then you can choose to do so.

With Firefox you can also click the down arrow besides the word Details. This will bring up some more advanced options, allowing you to choose exactly what will be deleted, and what will be saved.

By using these Internet cleanup techniques your web browsing will be faster and safer, allowing you to rest easily in the knowledge that your personal data, as well as your bank details have been removed, and are that much harder for Cyber criminals to get their hands on! posse.
